June has been a month of baby talk! A few weeks ago I shot THIS beautiful Maternity Session. Then, I received an email from a friend of mine that they were having a birthday parade for their daughter, Ellie who was turning 2 along with a small gathering for a gender reveal at their home. I planned to go to both the birthday parade and gender reveal with the kids and I asked her if she wanted me to bring my camera along! She responded how much of a gift that would be, so the kiddos, my camera and I went to celebrate!
It was really sweet to see the little birthday girl and her mama’s baby bump! At 11 weeks, its showing slightly and its adorable! Close friends gathered around after the parade as mom and dad popped a balloon revealing the gender of their new baby coming soon!
Congratulations Duffy family! I am so excited for you! Ellie is going to be the BEST big sister!! <3
You may be thinking, ” What?! I didn’t know Alex does maternity sessions!!” and you would be correct! I usually do not get to shoot maternity sessions however, long story short, I was contacted by a photographer friend Veronique Photography who reached out to see if I was available to take this session on as she was not able to, and I was! I am so glad I was able to capture this season of Ashley and Jesse’s lives before they welcome their little boy in July.
With lots of chatting back and forth we decided to have their session at Mac’s Apples in Londonderry! I am so thankful they were open to coming to this location. It was such a beautiful place with lots of areas on their grounds we were able to go to and the light was perfect! The night was perfect for a session and I just loved getting to know them and seeing how cute that little bump is!
As I scroll through these images I can’t help but remember being pregnant with Ethan and then again with Henry and wondering how our lives would change when we had one, and then again when we had another. Nothing could have prepared me for the joy that we were about to experience then. Taking these portraits felt so different after experiencing pregnancy myself and I loved it! I don’t miss not being able to see my feet or the sleepless nights and indigestion, but I do miss feeling the movement and kicks inside of me. It’s just such a miracle and a precious season that deserves to be captured! I hope that one day Ashley and Jesse’s sweet baby boy will love seeing these portraits of his momma and daddy together before he was born!!! Enjoy some of my favorites!!
“The purpose of this project is to bring us together when we might feel isolated. I aim to highlight the faces of our community during a time when we might not see them in passing at the grocery store, coffee shop or at the gym. Participating in this project is also an opportunity to step up to help those who need it most right now in [Bedford].These days are challenging for every single one of us. As we stay at home to hopefully limit the spread of COVID-19, we lose the unspoken connections we shared by simply being out-and-about in town. But even if we are separated, we are together.”- Cara Soulia
With all that has been going on in the world right now, we have been trying to keep ourselves busy with a schedule. No not a schedule, a check list. I’ve attempted the schedule and it just did not work for us. So, since I love me some paper and a sharpie marker, I’ve been making us check lists daily. Things that have been on our check list include: checking in with Ethan’s class on google classroom, ABC mouse has offered 2 free months of their program, so the boys have been enjoying that, science projects, walks, bike rides and scooter rides, nature walks, scavenger hunts and of course, crossing off my list of to do’s for my business and let me just say, crushing those goals!
After seeing all of the breaking news about the Coronavirus I have been wanting ways to get out of the house for fresh air and some social distancing since it definitely helps break up the days. We have participated in a town wide shamrock scavenger hunt, a bear hunt and sidewalk chalk messages in our neighborhood and the Front Porch Portrait Project. The Front Porch Portrait Project was started by a photographer in Newton, MA and since has been traveling around the world bringing joy to many photographers and families. When I saw this project was taking place in different states, I knew I wanted to bring it here to Bedford, NH.
I posted in our neighborhood facebook group about this project and I could not believe the positive feedback I had received from everyone! I opened it up to start with my neighborhood and my bible study group from our church, Bethany Covenant Church. I started a private Facebook Group for everyone who expressed interest in joining me in this project and from there, chose a few dates from the past week and got busy creating my routes and travel times. I had captured photos of over 35 families in 3 days! I had everyone provide me with their cell phone number so that I was able to text them when I was on my way and when I was out front of their home. I used my 70-200mm lens and I stayed close to my car / at the edge of the lawn with more than 6ft. distance from one another. I am telling you that this project made me so excited. I put jeans on and make up each day I had these planned and I felt more awake than I had in the last 2 weeks of staying home. The boys came with me for the ride to visit the families but they did not get out of the car. Ethan even did some video and photos of me behind the scenes working from a distance and I am so proud of his skills!
This brought me so much joy. I absolutely loved seeing how creative people were and I loved getting to see them and talk to them all from a distance. I am excited for the time when we can have family sessions that are longer than 5 minutes and I can get a little closer to capture those special details, but this brought joy to me and everyone involved. Thank you Bedford!! Stay Safe! xoxo

Kicking off 2020 with the Lund Family! You guys this was my last family session of 2019 and I am thrilled I was able to spend it with these guys! I have worked with Jordan from Jordecor a few times over the years, and if you do not already follow her, you need to! She is an influencer on social media platforms and teaches all things decor! She shares real life stuff and her creative heart is amazing!!! I just love everything that she creates!
Their session was in time for Christmas photos, and they had a bonus where there was still some snow on the ground! With a few Christmas card perfect photos, they also added on a little 2020 surprise toward the end of our session! Being as creative as Jordan is, not only did they look amazing with their coordinated outfits, she went out and got a few things to celebrate the new year! The best is that they do not need to stress about getting their cards out in time for Christmas, they can send out Happy New Year cards instead! I loved this idea and I love how these all came out. I loved getting to spend some time with the whole family and I am excited to see how their cards came out for this year!
Jordan, Ben, Griffin and Autumn, Thanks for much for braving the cold to get a few family portraits from 2019! I am so honored you chose me to capture your family photos and I hope you love them as much as I do! Happy New Year! xo.
It feels like the year of baby girls! I have had several newborn sessions this year and all of them were little ladies who just stole my heart! This beautiful family invited me to their home for a lifestyle newborn session and I am so thankful! Big Brother Ben was so cute snuggling on his new sister Emily for some parts of our session. He even busted out some adorable dance moves! Emily is absolutely the sweetest and at 7 days new, she was awake for most of our time together. These photos are timeless. It’s just so crazy to see how much babies and kids grow each day. Everyday is new and having these moments captured in your home is a wonderful way to keep these precious memories forever.
Kristy, Jeff, Benjamin and Emily, Thanks so much for spending the day with me! I had so much fun getting to know you guys and meeting baby Emily. She is absolutely precious! She and Ben are so lucky to have parents like you! I hope you love your photos as much as I do! It’s always so hard for me to choose my favorites so here is a sneak peek of a bunch of the photos I love! Can’t wait to see you guys again soon! xo.
LIFESTYLE NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY
The true beauty of lifestyle newborn photography is that there are really no boundaries of what the sessions should be like. There are no rules, set poses or perfect timing. Each family is different and so the end result is different as well. It’s unique as it should be because it portrays each family’s story in a real and honest way. Don’t ever feel like you are too late to capture your baby’s photos. There are no set rules. Babies are beautiful in every phase and the moments are too precious and fleeting to be missed.
